Erick Robinson is a Partner and Co-Chair of the Patent Trial and Appeals Board (PTAB) Practice Group at the world-class international law firm Brown Rudnick. He is an expert in AI technologies and a leader in the law of AI.  Erick uses his technical acumen and his legal expertise to assist companies and individuals to safely, effectively, and efficiently implement AI into their businesses and workflows. He is an enthusiastic supporter of Generative, Predictive, and Prescriptive AI when used safely and reasonably. He created this blog to provide interesting thoughts and news on the world of AI, with a focus of the law of AI as well as effective use of AI in the practice of law.  Erick is a graduate of Pomona College and the University of Texas School of Law. 

 

Although Erick has 25 years of experience in intellectual property and is a leading patent litigator and trial lawyer, he also is an IP generalist.  One of the few American lawyers to work at a top Chinese law firm in Beijing, he also is one of the few lawyers to go in-house to top companies, and then return to his private practice.

 

Erick is a top IP strategist with a technical background in computer science, electronics, and biotechnology. A U.S. patent attorney, he also has broad experience in patent monetization and licensing, litigating and trying trade secret disputes, and litigating inter partes reviews before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). In addition, Erick is a certified Texas mediator.

 

Erick has managed and tried patent and other IP cases throughout the U.S. in both state and federal courts, as well as the ITC.  In addition to his time at top law firms, he also previously served as Director of Patents for Qualcomm and as Senior Patent Counsel at Red Hat. He also acted as Director of Patent Litigation at a top Chinese law firm. Erick is a trusted authority on patent and antitrust law in the U.S., China, and Europe and has been selected as one of the Leading 300 IP Strategists Worldwide by Intellectual Asset Management since 2014 as well as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for IP Litigation.
